I get a lot of calls from people wondering where the landfill is at in Houston, how much does it cost, and how does it work. If you're willing to do the work yourself to save a few bucks, and you have the equipment to do it, I say more power to ya, so I made this post to help you out a little bit. There is only one landfill in the north Houston area I would recommend for furniture, household trash and household goods, and thats Waste Connections Hardy Road Transfer Station off East Hardy Road near Richey and I-45. Many of the other landfills in the north half of Houston are actually for construction waste only (no food trash, liquids, electronics, or putrescible waste), and also charge by volume (about $10 per a cubic yard) instead of weight ($46 per a ton) like they do at the transfer station I am recommending. Household junk and furniture tend to be a lot less dense than remodeling and construction waste, so the Hardy Road Transfer Station definitely ends up being the cheaper option, it just smells a bit more. Watch the video for more details. Hardy Road Transfer Station address is 18784 E Hardy Rd, Houston, TX 77073 phone # (281) 443-1456
